Updates on the Lisu New Year Celebration and Others
February, 2018

Dear brothers and sisters,

Greetings to you again from Lazarus and Acha Fish on behalf of the MACM workers in the Lord Jesus Christ. By the grace of God, the end of the 2017-18 academic year is approaching. We are very excited to celebrate the eleventh commencement exercise of YCCS on March 2nd. Starting this week, we are wrapping up the class works with getting the final assignments and exams done. At the same time, we are also preparing for the graduation ceremony. We are also expecting Warren Knoles (USA MACM board chairman) and Rob Pal (member of the board) as special speakers at the graduation ceremony. Warren and Rob are also conducting Bible seminar on February 27th and 28th. The senior night will be held on Feb. 22nd from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm and the YCCS music concert will be held from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Feb. 26th and 28th. YCCS alumni will also join the seminar and the commencement exercise.

Participation in the Lisu New Year celebration held in Putao
The first Lisu New Year celebration in Putao, in the far north of Myanmar, was held on January 16th through 18th. The Lisu people across the country of Myanmar joined the celebration. It has been estimated 50,000 Lisu from Myanmar, China, India and Thailand had participated in the celebration, the largest gathering ever in the Lisu history. As I am currently the chairman of the Lisu Musicians and Artists Association, I was in charge of organizing the entertainment program and leading over 250 Lisu musicians and artists performing both contemporary and traditional music on two separate stages. 178 young people across the country participated in the Lisu fashion model, modern dance and singing competition. YCCS competitors from Yangon won four prizes, even though we represented a small institution. Here are the winners: (1) Lar Char won the second prize of the girl’s fashion model competition. (2) Ah Khi Judas won the third prize of the boy’s fashion model, (3) YCCS dance group also won the second prize of the modern dance and (4) Lar Char again won the girl’s personality prize. There were only 15 prizes for the 178 competitors across the country. Out of this, YCCS students won four prizes. This is quite achievement for YCCS in music.

Lazarus was also awarded by the Lisu leaders at the opening ceremony on the basis of being the first Lisu who established the music band in 1977, being the first among the Lisu in Myanmar who established recording studio in 2003, training Lisu musicians and organizing Lisu traditional dance group in Yangon and performing Lisu the dance in Vietnam. Lazarus is also the founder of the Lisu Musicians and Artists Association, which has been recognized by the government. These are the reasons that the leaders honored Lazarus with the award.

Dear brothers and sisters, we are so grateful to you for being such a wonderful and faithful partners in the spread of the good news to this part of the world. The graduates from our three training schools have been doing such a wonderful job in the sharing of God’s word. We are very excited to hear from the alumni in February 26th and will share with you as well. Thank you so much, we love you.
