Updates on the Events and Celebrations in
November & December 2017

Dear brothers and sisters,

Greetings to you from Lazarus and Acha on behalf of the MACM workers. As the days have gone by, we are approaching to the end of the 2017-18 academic year. The 2018 graduation ceremony will be held on March 2nd. Warren, the MACM US board chairman and Rob Pal, the board member are coming to the graduation as special speakers on the occasion. 10 students are graduating in March. Steve Stewart and his daughter Mary from the Westside Christian church in Springfield, Illinois are also visiting us in March.

Lazarus attending the convention committee meeting of the Christian churches in Myanmar
Lazarus attended the convention committee’s annual meeting held in Pyin Oo Lwin on November 14th, 15th, and 16th. The convention executive committee comprise of 11 members has been formed out of the Christian leaders from the Christian churches across the country. 214 Christian leaders from different parts of the country joined the meeting. We discussed matters on church planting, evangelism, leadership training program and youth training program. Lazarus is a member of the convention committee.

Lazarus attending diversity management forum
Lazarus was privileged to attend a forum called “diversity management in the age of globalization” organized by the ministry of social welfare and resettlement. 15 scholars from South Africa, Europe, USA, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, China and Thailand spoke on the occasion. The forum was conducted in English and Lazarus was chosen by the Lisu leaders to attend the forum on behalf of the Lisu people in Myanmar. Myanmar has 135 ethnic groups and the tension among them is critical, especially between Muslim and Buddhists in the Southwest of Myanmar. Each scholar shared their experiences as to how the diversity in their countries were managed. The forum was held on November 22nd and 23rd.

Participation in the Christmas convention
The Christmas convention for the Christian churches in the southern Myanmar was held in Thi Baw, Shan state on December 1st through 3rd. 15 students under Lazarus’ leadership participated in the convention. Thank you so much for providing the traveling expenses to the convention. Lazarus preached at the Sunday evening service on Dec. 3rd and YCCS students performed the concert in that night. Three Bible colleges including YCCS performed a concert in each night respectively. Our Net music band members were privileged to play musical instrument for all colleges in their solo singing. Over 500 Christians from different parts of the southern Myanmar joined the convention. We received words of appreciation from the convention celebration committee for the Net band playing the music during the convention.

Celebration of Thanksgiving and Christmas at YCCS
The thanksgiving was held on November 19th as well as the YCCS Christmas held on December 24th. On both occasions, our church members from the Maw Bi Christian church and Htauk Kyaik Christian church joined the celebration. These two churches are growing in numbers and reaching their neighbors with the gospel. Tin Maung Win preaches at Maw Bi Christian church and Deborah at Htauk Kyaik Christian church. MACM supports both of them. The choir singings and the singing of the young people from the two churches were amazing and uplifting.

The school bus and a trip to Pagan, the ancient city of Myanmar
By the grace of God, God bless YCCS with a nice bus. We thank you so much to those who contributed the financial resource and prayers for the bus. The bus is a used one but in a good condition. It is 8 feet wide and 24 feet long with 32 seats. It can carries even 42 persons if 3 persons sit in one bench. We took an excursion trip to Pagan, the ancient city with the bus. We only spent the night on January 3rd and toured around the city with relics of historical sites, architecture, sculpture and culture, nearly 1000 years old.

Finally, we want to report to you that Lazarus is participating in the Lisu New Year celebration to be held in Putao from January 16th-18th. He is leading the Lisu musicians and singers for entertainment program at the celebration. The vice-president of Myanmar and the union ministers will join the celebration. We will report to you later. Thanks a lot for your love and kindness to us in His service.
